Baby Chicks

We have bought the first of our new flock. I'm sure I'll learn some more lessons. (See my previous post regarding chickens.) Here are a few pictures.

Picture taken through the wire. They're safe and warm in a converted rabbit hutch. We quit raising rabbits a while ago.

Here's the rabbit hutch covered up with a tarp. The hutch had to be covered to hold the heat in from the heat lamp. You're supposed to keep baby chicks warm between 70 degrees to 95 degrees depending on how old they are. Ours are about 2 weeks old.

Here are the babies.  We chose mostly Yellow Buffs aka Buff Orpingtons. We really like this breed.

Now to keep them safe from the predators.
